I think when I first turned up for my PhD we had a meeting going on and it was really hot outside so everyone wanted a cold drink… but we didn’t have a fridge – so I think my first job was to buy a small fridge for our office!
But the first real science I did was to test a thermal camera. A thermal camera detects how hot a surface is… We are flying several thermal cameras I helped test to orbit around the Moon, so we can measure how hot the Moons surface is. At poles of the Moon it gets really cold and where the surface of the Moon is cold there might be water trapped at the surface, which we could use if we want to Humans back to the Moon.
