      That’s a good question! Hospitals need nuclear reactors to make radioactive materials that they use in medical treatments such as cancer treatments. Some of these radioactive materials have such short half life that there is not enough time to transport them from “big” reactors to hospitals before losing their radioactive properties. That’s why hospitals make them on the spot in function of the demand for them.
